Dull & Drowsy Sunday

Dull & Drowsy Sunday --- 2women2cats

More often than I like to admit I fantasize of the weekend. I can finally get things done! All the German homework that I haven’t had the time for during the workweek, maybe I can paint, maybe bake something I’ve wanted to make for ages…

On Saturdays I’m fairly active. We go to the Helsinki centre for some shopping and cafés and at home I tackle the admiringly large pile of laundry. I feel productive and excited!

Saturday night games: Tridom!

Unfortunately the feeling doesn’t last to Sunday. I still have plenty of things to do but the drive is gone. I’m laying in the bed, blanket protecting me from the grey world outside with one cat laying on top of me and the other one under the blanket with me. None of us wants to move. It’s Monday tomorrow!

Oh Sunday apathy.

Cats, Flowers & Summertime

The grey rainy November is at its end, the dim winter sun is hiding behind thick rain clouds and I am having a cold. This is one of those days when it’s okay to feel a bit melancholic, drink some hot blackcurrant juice and look at pictures of summertime while being lazy on the couch with a package of tissues.

As it seems, I have barely posted any summer pictures. I guess I was too busy enjoying the warmth – or maybe looking through hundreds of pictures and editing them just didn’t seem that appealing. Looks like I had a recurring theme in the summer photography: cats and flowers.

I am obviously a huge summer person and one of my biggest enjoyments are flowers. The bright colours, pleasant scents and the quiet buzzing noise of bees are simply relaxing. In the future I’d love to get my very own garden, but in the meantime I’m happy with my mini balcony and having my mother with her garden nearby.

We found some amazing apothecary bottles and equipments from a university laboratory trash!

To me summer has always been about looking around at the nature and observing it; the dandelions are blooming, the lilacs are blooming, the lupines are blooming… Time to pick nettles, time to pick clovers… And so forth.

At least I’m not the only one in this house who is a summer-fanatic: the cats love warming themselves up in the hot sun and looking at people and bugs on the balcony.

Have I mentioned photography yet? It is just so satisfying to take pictures that actually have colour and light!

Easter Cats

Our cat boys might not enjoy chocolate eggs, but they do like the sun…

Now that the sun shines better into our apartment, the boys just migrate from one sunny spot to another. Stef put the living room carpet on a table when she was cleaning, and the cats thought it was the best bed they have ever slept on.

It’s funny how every time you put a towel, a shirt or anything similar on the couch or on the bed, cats immediately go to sleep on there. It’s like they need extra layers of softness for their delicate behinds. Reminds me of the story of the princess and the pea and how she couldn’t fall asleep with a pea under 20 mattresses and 20 feather-beds.

The boys are like any brothers and always end up fighting at some point…

February Cats

I have a feeling everybody who has pets loves taking pictures of them, obviously I’m not an exception. Thankfully my boys are quite photogenic, except when Kookos pushes his neck back and Jeera does silly expressions…

Jeera -- 2 Women 2 Cats

Once again, I just wish it would finally be summer so we’d get a bit more sun. Jeera and Kookos agree with me – even if they don’t care about the quality of the pictures, they are solar powered and hence need the sun.

Kookos -- 2 Women 2 Cats

Oh well, the amount of the light is increasing every day, and soon the sun will reach our living room as well. We’re going to keep our spirits up until then!

Tuesday Blues… Or Greys

This late autumn is so grey and depressing – it feels like it’s not getting light at all, it just goes from black to grey. I wish it would be sunny!

Fog at Katajanokka

This weather makes me both tremendously tired and utterly unproductive. In the morning nothing feels better than the warm blankets and some feline and human company in the bed. I’d just like to stay in when the damnable alarm goes off, but no, work awaits.

Twice a week I have my German class, and that is also one reason this blog has been a bit abandoned. I’m trying to learn the language as fast as I can, so I’m actually in a class that is above my level  – which means I have to do a lot of extra work in my free time. I have six course books I’m doing at the moment! Six!

Studying German
Studying German in Johan&Nyström where we went on Sunday. I took some pictures there as well, so a post should be on its way at some point.

Well enough with the moping now, Tiia! I have great plans of making lavender and rose macarons this week, I’m trying my best to have the time for it. If I do and they don’t turn out to be flat as pancakes, recipe is to be expected on the weekend!

In the meanwhile, here are some pictures of Jeera and Kookos, to brighten up the Tuesday!
